Clinical Supervision & Case Consultation for Licensed Mental Health Professionals

Dr. Terracciano provides case consultation and clinical supervision in cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) for practicing mental health professionals.

Grounded in theories of adult learning, and backed up by research, Dr. Terracciano's reliance on evidenced-based approaches to clinical supervision helps practitioners to preserve fidelity and integrity to the CBT model of psychotherapy.

Whether you are a novice, intermediate or seasoned CBT therapist who wants to prevent drift, Stephen Terracciano will collaborate with you to customize a professional development plan. He is committed to helping you achieve proficiency and expertise in cognitive and behavioral therapy competencies, thereby improving treatment outcomes for the people you serve.

Case Consultation

In need of a fresh perspective on a challenging case? Dr. Terracciano provides brief consultation services to facilitate CBT case conceptualization, treatment planning, selection of intervention techniques, and the removal of barriers to the therapeutic process.

Individual & Small Group Supervision

Looking for an individualized approach to supervision? Interested in learning from your peers? Dr. Terracciano provides both individual and small group CBT supervision.

The foundation of the supervisory experience stems from routine review of recorded therapy sessions. Using the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale (CTRS) and other measures, CBT competencies are assessed and incorporated into development plans. In addition, role play, reverse role play, and successive role play exercises transform the supervision room into a working lab. In this way, supervisees acquire new skills and maximize transfer of learning into their therapy sessions with clients.

Stephen teaches supervisees both traditional and third wave CBT techniques, whether as part of a specific treatment protocol, or broad-based CBT. Supervision is dynamic, purposeful, progressive, and structured while flexible. He fosters curiosity about, and creativity with the learning process, igniting practitioners' passion for their work.

Relevant Training and Experience

In addition to attaining Specialty Board Certification in Behavioral & Cognitive Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology, Dr. Terracciano attended a three day intensive training in Evidence-Based CBT Teaching & Supervision at The Beck Institute, under the instruction of Drs. Donna Sudak and Judith Beck (2015).

Previously, he has supervised Pace University doctoral trainees in Clinical Psychology as part of their externship in the Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home Department at The Jewish Childcare Association. At Beth Israel's Outpatient Program, Stephen supervised clinical psychologists in training and taught interns how to incorporate mindfulness-awareness practices into CBT and personal self-care.

Currently, as Adjunct Clinical Supervisor, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University, Dr. Terracciano provides supervision to doctoral candidates in clinical psychology throughout their year-long CBT rotation. In addition, he supervises early career mental health professionals in CBT practice.
